I grew up on my great grandfather’s tea farm in southeast China. I was labeled “trouble” by my school teachers for being “too independent.” I simply didn’t fit into traditional Chinese culture. Fearing for my future, my parents sent me to the US.
I became fascinated with American iced tea. I was frustrated because they were so sugary and tasted nothing like what I wanted to drink. So I brewed thousands of batches - changing ingredients and techniques until I had a tea I wanted to drink.
